WorldCare Clinical Commences Medical Device Study using Advanced Cardiac Imaging

Boston, MA, April 12, 2017--WorldCare Clinical (WCC), a leading provider of imaging services for medical device clinical trials, today announced that its radiology team commenced reads on a 50-patient 3D Cardiac CT and transesophageal echo clinical trial. The cardiac imaging is performed to determine the efficacy and safety of an implanted device used to exclude the left atrial appendage.

3D Cardiac CT is a non-invasive method of detecting blockages in the coronary arteries. 3D Cardiac CT uses advanced CT technology, along with a small amount of dye, to non-invasively obtain high-resolution, three-dimensional images of the heart and coronary arteries.

The co-leads for the study include a vascular radiologist from Massachusetts General Hospital and a ProScan Imaging cardiologist. ProScan Imaging, the parent company of WCC, is a teleradiology service with 34 board-certified, subspecialty-trained radiologists on staff, with in-house experts in Coronary MR and CT Angiography.

WCC’s software analysis tools for cardiac CT images enable automatic segmentation of the heart, ventricle, atria, and various vessels, as well as both 3D and 4D cardiac viewing capabilities.

“Our team of board-certified, subspecialty-trained radiologists and cardiologists from MGH and ProScan, along with our state-of-the-art software analysis tools for cardiac echo, MR and CT, enable us to effectively perform imaging services for any type of cardiovascular clinical trial involving imaging,” stated Aaron Timm, CEO of WorldCare Clinical.
